1 Scope

1.1 These requirements cover spill containment for stationary acid and alkaline electrolyte battery systems (e.g. lead acid batteries and Ni-Cad batteries) investigated for liquid tightness, level of electrolyte absorption, pH neutralization capability, and flame spread resistance.

1.2 These systems are intended to provide a means of containment for hazardous material liquids in the event of electrolyte leakage from stationary lead-acid, nickel or similar electrolyte battery systems.
