{"id":336138,"date":"2024-10-19T23:29:21","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T23:29:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/uncategorized\/bs-684-2-331983\/"},"modified":"2024-10-25T22:27:12","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T22:27:12","slug":"bs-684-2-331983","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/pdfstandards.shop\/product\/publishers\/bsi\/bs-684-2-331983\/","title":{"rendered":"BS 684-2.33:1983"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This International Standard specifies a thin-layer chromatographic method for the detection and identification of the following antioxidants in animal and vegetable fats and oils:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>nordihydroguairetic acid (NDGA)<\/li>\n<li>propylgallate (PG)<\/li>\n<li>octylgallate (OG)<\/li>\n<li>dodecylgallate (DG)<\/li>\n<li>tertiobutylhydroquinone (TBHQ)<\/li>\n<li>butylhydroxyanisole (<i>tert<\/i>-butyl-4-methoxyphenol) (BHA)<\/li>\n<li>\u03b1-tocopherol<\/li>\n<li>butylhydroxytoluene (2,6-di-<i>tert<\/i>-butyl-4-methylphenol) (BHT)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The antioxidants are listed in the order of their <i>R<\/i><sub>f<\/sub> values.<\/p>\n<p>The detection of \u03b1-tocopherol is sometimes difficult as the spots of this antioxidant are of a generally diffuse aspect.<\/p>\n<p>The method has limits of detection of 20 mg\/kg (ppm) for BHT, and 10 mg\/kg (ppm) for the other antioxidants. It should be noted that BHT is not completely isolated by this method.<\/p>\n<p>Describes thin-layer chromatography for nordihydroguairetic, propylgallate, octylgallate, dodecylgallate, tertiobutylhydroquinone, butylhydroxyanisole, \u03b1-tocopherol and butylhydroxytoluene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><b>Methods of analysis of fats and fatty oils.
