This part of IEC 61300 specifies the method for measuring the extraction force between the ferrule (pin void) of the connector and the deformable centering sleeve of the coupling. The pin vacancy should have the same shape (chamfer) as the normal ferrule described in the optical interface in IEC 61755-3 and IEC 61754 (series). This measurement method is applicable to cylindrical single-fiber ferrules of optical connectors. The IEC 61754 series of standards (mating faces of fiber optic connectors) are applied in conjunction with the IEC 61755 (Optical Interface) and IEC 61753 (Performance Standard) series of standards and are tested by the IEC 61300 series of standards (Basic Test and Measurement Procedures). The standard gives manufacturers and test laboratories certainty in its definition and serves as a reference in quality assurance.
