This Design Guide provides a consistent symbology for representing luminaires on design drawings (printed or electronic). It is intended for lighting design professionals, code authorities, contractors and manufacturers to let them express generalized luminaire types, mounting methods, and orientation. Product Detailed Description The Guide offers the lighting design community a set of standardized symbols that applies to all luminaires. The intent is to describe (not to prescribe) a basic symbol set and establish certain guidelines, thus making it easier to adapt computer-aided design (CAD) methods to lighting design. Through the use of the base symbol set and modifiers as described in this Guide, a symbol can be created to represent any type of luminaire. Essentially this Guide provides a set of building blocks, not a package of stand-alone symbols.
