Full Description
Formerly S75.01. Presents equations for predicting the flow of compressible and incompressible fluids
through control valves. The equations are not intended for use when mixed-phase
fluids, dense slurries, dry solids, or non-Newtonian liquids are encountered. In addition,
the prediction of cavitation, noise, or other effects is not a part of this standard.
Scope:
This standard presents equations for predicting the flow of compressible and
incompressible fluids through control valves. The equations are not intended for use
when mixed-phase fluids, dense slurries, dry solids, or non-Newtonian liquids are
encountered. In addition, the prediction of cavitation, noise, or other effects is not a
part of this standard.
Purpose:
The equations of this standard are based on the use of experimentally determined
capacity factors obtained by testing control valve specimens according to the
procedures of ANSI/ISA-75.02-1996, 'Control Valve Capacity Test Procedures'.
The equations are used to predict the flow rate of a fluid through a valve when all the
factors, including those related to the fluid and its flowing condition, are known. When
the equations are used to select a valve size, it is often necessary to use capacity
factors associated with the fully open or rated condition to predict an approximate
required valve flow coefficient (Cv). This procedure is further explained in Annex A.
