This Standard specifies general requirements for d.c. switchgear and controlgear (hereafter referred to as "switchgear") which supply electrical power to railway rolling stocks and are intended to be used in fixed electrical installations with nominal voltage not exceeding 3000 V d.c.

NOTE: The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.

IEC 61992-1: 2006 Railway applications-Fixed installations-DC switchgear-Part 1: General (MOD)

The symbols which denote the degree of correspondence (MOD) in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified) and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
