These fungi do not physically weaken the leather but are objectionable for aesthetic reasons or for their adverse effect on surface properties such as hardening of leather. <\/p>\n<p> NOTE: Owing to the difficulty in procuring a leather sample of known susceptibility to fungal growth for use as a test control specimen, this Method uses an agar test medium. <\/p>\n<p> This Standard provides a laboratory test which is simulated under laboratory conditions.
