This is the first edition of CSA B128.1\/B128.2, Design and installation of non-potable water systems\/ Maintenance and field testing of non-potable water systems.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.<\/p>\n

CSA B128.1:06 – Design and installation of non-potable water systems<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1.1<\/p>\n

This Standard specifies requirements for the design and installation of non-potable water systems for applications such as flushing toilets, irrigating lawns and gardens, washing automobiles, showering, bathing, washing clothes, or heating and cooling.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1.2<\/p>\n

This Standard does not cover<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(a) the quality of the non-potable water;<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(b) maintenance and field testing of non-potable water systems after the initial installation; or<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(c) non-potable water systems for industrial or manufacturing processes. Maintenance and field-testing requirements are covered in CSA B128.2.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1.3<\/p>\n

This Standard does not cover and does not preclude further treatment of non-potable water to potable standards.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1.4<\/p>\n

In CSA Standards, shall is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; should is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; may is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and can is used to express possibility or capability.<\/p>\n

Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This Standard does not include requirements for the design and installation of non-potable water systems. These requirements are covered in CSA B128.1.<\/p>\n
