It supersedes the previous editions, published in 2002, 1999, 1994, 1988, and 1972.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>1.1<\/p>\n<p>This Standard covers self-contained, recirculating, chemically controlled toilets and specifies requirements for<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(a) design;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(b) materials;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(c) components;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(d) construction and finish;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(e) testing;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(f) installation;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(g) operation; and<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(h) markings.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>1.2<\/p>\n<p>This Standard covers toilets that are intended to be used where travel conditions, space restrictions, and water conservation constitute reasons for deviating from the use of conventional water closets.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>1.3<\/p>\n<p>This Standard does not cover self-contained, recirculating, chemically controlled toilets that are portable.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>1.4<\/p>\n<p>The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard.
