It provides alternative choices for type<br \/>\nof insulation, type of filling compound, sheath design (shielding<br \/>\nmaterials, single or double jackets, and jacket type and thickness)<br \/>\nand armoring. <\/p>\n<p>Buried wire is used to extend buried telephone plant from the<br \/>\ndistribution cable to the subscriber. <\/p>\n<p>PURPOSE: The purpose of this Standard is to establish generic<br \/>\ntechnical requirements that may be referenced by individual<br \/>\ntelecommunications wire specifications covering products intended<br \/>\nfor normal outside plant use. The parameters covered provide<br \/>\nmaterial, construction, and performance requirements. <\/p>\n<p>Because this Standard does not cover all details of individual<br \/>\nwire design, it cannot be used as a single document for procurement<br \/>\nof product. It is intended to be used in conjunction with an<br \/>\nindividual product specification that provides complete design<br \/>\ndetails for the specific wire type and designates the applicable<br \/>\nperformance requirements. Such individual wire specifications may<br \/>\nbe prepared either by the user or the manufacturer.
