Applicable pressure vessels<\/p>\n
\nThis Japanese Industrial Standard applies to the construction and fixtures of pressure vessels with the design pressure of less than 30 MPa.<\/p>\n
\nThe pressure vessels refer to vessels which retain pressure or contain fluid generating pressure, or to those which retain external pressure (hereafter referred to as "pressure vessels").<\/p>\n
\nHowever, pressure vessels given in a) to f) below are excluded.<\/p>\n
\nNOTE: The pressure, unless otherwise specified, means gauge pressure.<\/p>\n
\na) Those within the scope of other Japanese Industrial Standards 1)<\/p>\n
\nb) Those made of non-metallic materials<\/p>\n
\nc) Those used for atomic energy<\/p>\n
\nd) Those with riveted or soldered structure<\/p>\n
\ne) Those exposed to direct fire<\/p>\n
\nf) Those with special structures 2) or for special applications 3)<\/p>\n

\n3) Pressure sections of rotating or reciprocating machines such as oil or water pressure machines, pumps, compressors, turbines, internal combustion engines, water or pneumatic pressure cylinders.<\/p>\n
\nScope of pressure vessels<\/p>\n
\nScope of pressure vessels shall include the main body [shells, end plates and nozzle stubs (nozzles) directly connected to them] and the sections shown in a) to c) below:<\/p>\n
\na) fixing sections to the piping,<\/p>\n
\n1) to the first circumference joint (excluding the welded joint), for welded joints;<\/p>\n
\n2) to the first screwed joint, for screwed joints;<\/p>\n
\n3) to the first flange surface, for bolted flanged joints;<\/p>\n
\nb) sections to the welded joint, in case the fixtures are welded directly onto the pressured sections;<\/p>\n
\nc) sections to the cover plate subjected to pressure such as manhole and hand hole (including welded joints, bolts and nuts and gaskets).<\/p>\n
