General Requirements for Plumbing Fixtures

This Standard applies to the following plumbing fixtures: (a) bathtubs; (b) kitchen and bar sinks; (c) lavatories; (d) laundry tubs; (e) shower enclosures and receptors; (f) drinking fountains and water coolers; (g) water closets; (h) bidets; (i) urinals; (j) non-recirculating toilets and waste-holding tanks for use in recreational vehicles; and (k) self-contained, recirculating, chemically controlled toilets for use in recreational vehicles. This Standard does not apply to: (a) appliances such as dishwashers, clothes washers, etc; or (b) floor drains and trench drains covered by CSA Standard CAN3-B79. This Standard shall be used in conjunction with the appropriate Standard(s) in the B45 Series in order to form a complete Standard. When components of a fixture are made of different materials, each component shall comply with the applicable requirements of the appropriate Standard in the B45 Series. These different materials shall satisfy this Standard regarding quality, strength, effectiveness, durability, and safety. They shall also be repairable and/or replaceable. Other types and styles of plumbing fixtures shall be acceptable providing they comply with all the requirements of this Standard. The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard.
