Preface This Is the third edition of the B45 Series, Plumbing Fixtures, superseding previous editions published in 1988 and 1981. Prior to 1981, the individual fixture Standards were published separately. Included in the B45 Series are (a) B45.0, General Requirements for Plumbing Fixtures. This Standard incorporates design and performance requirements common to two or more of the remaining Standards in the Series; (b) B45.1, Ceramic Plumbing Fixtures; (c) B45.2, Enamelled Cast Iron Plumbing Fixtures; (d) B45.3, Porcelain-Enamelled Steel Plumbing Fixtures; (e) B45.4, Stainless Steel Plumbing Fixtures; (f) B45.5, Plastic Plumbing Fixtures; (g) B45.6, Non-recirculating Toilets and Waste Holding Tanks for Use in Recreational Vehicles; and (h) B45.7, Self-Contained, Recirculating, Chemically Controlled Toilets for Use in Recreational Vehicles. Major changes from the previous edition include the following: (a) provisions for hydromassage bathtubs, previously covered in Supplement No. 1. are proposed to be included in the new CSA Standard C22.2 No. 218.2, Hydromassage Bathtub Appliances; (b) previously published amendments covering low consumption water closets (WCs), pressurized flushing devices, WC outlet details, WC tank hole details, non-vltreous ceramic fixtures, surface finish requirements for enamelled and porcelain-enamelled steel fixtures, and a revised thermal test for plastic fixtures: (c) new requirements for grab bars; (d) new vibration test for plastic and non-vitreous ceramic kitchen sinks; (e) revised flat deck requirements for lavatories; (f) new static load test for laundry tubs; (g) revised package marking requirements for WCs; (h) modified Figure 5; (i) new Figure 19; (j) revised water absorption test in CSA Standard B45.5; (k) revised test for resistance to cigarette burns in CSA Standard B45.5; (I) revised hot-oil and hot-pot tests in CSA Standard B45.5; (m) several potentially hazardous reagents have been removed from Table 3 of CSA Standard B45.5; (n) new standardization methods for testing waste removal and water consumption of WCs and urinals; (o) new Figures 20 through 23; (p) revised water changeability test; and (q) insulated tank test. This Series of Standards was prepared by the Technical Committee on Plumbing Fixtures under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Plumbing Products and Materials and was formally approved by these Committees. Notes: (1) Use of the singular does not exdude the plural (and vice versa) when the sense allows. (2) Although the intended primary application of this Standard is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the Standard to judge its suitability for their particular purpose. (3) CSA Standards are subject to periodic review, and suggestions for their improvement wW be referred to the appropriate committee-.
