A standardized format assures accurate<br \/>\ndata transfer between contractor and operator<br \/>\ndatabases in formats that are convenient and familiar<br \/>\nto each. Such standardization accommodates<br \/>\nindustry-wide data mining and facilitates review by<br \/>\nregulatory agencies.<\/p>\n<p>1.1.2 ECDA-related data elements to cover a wide<br \/>\nvariety of data capture needs are presented. Not all<br \/>\nfields need to be used in all applications. The purpose<br \/>\nof this standard is to provide a standard field naming<br \/>\nand unit format convention (i.e., data dictionary) for<br \/>\nusing the various ECDA indirect inspection data<br \/>\nelements.<\/p>\n<p>1.1.3 This standard presents an open format that is<br \/>\nintended to accommodate the widest probable range of<br \/>\nvariables that might be required to document an ECDA<br \/>\nsurvey and subsequent investigation. It is not<br \/>\nnecessary to enter data or comments in all of the data<br \/>\nfields&#8211;only those applicable to the current study or<br \/>\nthose necessary to meet operator requirements.
