\n\tESDU 88022 provides graphical data and introduces a program in
\nFortran, provided as an executable file, for the estimation of the
\nnatural vibration characteristics of non-rigid planar piping
\nsystems, either empty or running full. The program calculates
\nnatural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes, and normal-mode
\ngeneralised masses and stiffnesses of the transverse bending and
\naxial modes of vibration, up to a chosen cut-off frequency. Lumped
\nmasses, to model in-line valves for example, and externally-acting
\nelastic restraints in the plane of the system may be treated. The
\neffects of bend flexibility may be included. The pipes may vary in
\ncross-section, or be of different materials, but the fluid is
\nassumed of constant density. The graphical data allow the
\nestimation of the fundamental frequency of a single pipe, or of
\nconfigurations with up to three right angle bends, subject to
\nadditional idealisations over those imposed by the computer model.
\nWorked examples illustrate the use of both methods. The program is
\nalso provided compiled to run under PC DOS in the ESDU view
